The challenges that await you

Reporting to the division head - planning and urban design, you advise and assist your superior in the planning, implementation, coordination, and control of all activities of the division mainly concerning urban architecture, particularly regarding the issuance of building permits and building improvements within the City’s territory. In this capacity, you design, plan, carry out, and coordinate the studies and analyses required for the issuance of building permits in accordance with the laws and regulations in force.

You study and evaluate work methods and procedures, design and propose changes to optimize work organization and resource utilization. Additionally, you coordinate the technical and professional resources assigned to various activities of the division.

More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Analyze and develop processes, methods, and work procedures, ensure compliance with them among the relevant employees, and submit recommendations to your superior;
  • Coordinate and ensure the production of all kinds of reports regarding construction, renovation, P.I.I.A., etc. within the City’s territory;
  • Meet with various professionals and consultants regarding land development and planning projects;
  • Represent the City in matters of architecture, according to received directives, at the Urban Planning Advisory Committee (C.C.U.) within the framework of architectural integration and implantation plans (P.I.I.A.) and other architectural projects, as well as before various committees, organizations, and courts;
  • Assign, distribute, and verify the work performed by staff without having formal hierarchical authority. Determine standards, control work quality, and evaluate results obtained.
The ideal profile for us
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in architecture as well as a master's degree;
  • Be a member in good standing of the Ordre des architectes du Québec;
  • Have 5 years of relevant experience in analyzing and negotiating real estate development projects and in coordinating technical and professional resources.
